What is the main difference between Sarawak MM2h and Peninsular MM2H?
The main difference is Sarawak MM2H visa holders are allowed to stay in both Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia. Whereas Peninsular MM2H visa holders are allowed to stay in Peninsular Malaysia only.
Is there a minimum stay requirement?
Yes. All participants are required to comply with a minimum stay of 15 days per year in Sarawak.
Can I place the fixed deposit in a bank located in other parts of Malaysia other than Sarawak?
No. The fixed deposit MUST be placed in a bank located in Sarawak only.
When can I withdraw my fixed deposit?
Participants may withdraw their fixed deposit (up to 40%) for approved expenses relating to property purchase, car purchase, medical expenses, education for children in Sarawak on the second year.
They are also allowed to withdraw the fixed deposit upon terminating the S-MM2H visa.
Can I withdraw my fixed deposit at any time during my stay in Sarawak?
No. Participants are only allowed to withdraw fixed deposit with written permission from Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak and the Immigration Department.
Am I allowed to withdraw my fixed deposit for a few months and then topped it back later?
No. Participants are not allowed to do that.
Can I do medical check-up in my country?
No. Medical check-up must be done in Sarawak only.
Are dependents required to obtain the medical insurance?
Dependents are required to obtain the medical insurance that is applicable in Malaysia from any insurance company based in Sarawak.
What is the period given to do the endorsement of S-MM2H pass after the issuance of Conditional Approval Letter?
Approved applicant will be given duration of four (4) months from the issuance date of Conditional Approval Letter to do the endorsement.
For renewal of ten (10) years under Fixed Deposit, how much amount should I maintain?
If participant applied for the S-MM2H program under the fixed deposit category, he/she is required to provide the original fixed deposit certificate. If the participant has already withdrawn partial of the fixed deposit (with approval), he/she is required to provide the fixed deposit certificate (original and copy) with the minimum balance maintained, which is 60% of the initial fixed deposit placement.
If my S-MM2H visa expired several years ago, do I still have to terminate the visa?
Participants must do the termination of the visa at the Immigration Department in order to release the fixed deposit.
Can dependents (children) study in Sarawak?
Yes, dependents (children) are allowed to study in Sarawak. But they are required to apply for Student Pass from the Immigration Department.
Are dependents (children) allowed to attend government school? Or they have to attend international (private) school only?
They are allowed to attend both government and private school. However, for government (public) school, applicant must obtain approval from the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.
